Evaluate
the Neighborhood
| |
Don't
just look at the house, take a good look at the homes surrounding
you. Too often, buyers don't examine their potential neighbors
and surrounding area. |
| |
If
you have children, is it a family-oriented neighborhood? Look
for swingsets in the backyards, or toys in the front. |
| |
Be
sure to evaluate the school district. If it is a growing area,
keep in mind that taxes will likely be increasing. |
| |
Determine
the proximity to your work. Drive from the home to your work
some morning during rush hour to best gauge your drive time. |
| |
Walk
around the neighborhood. Are homes in good condition? Are the
homeowners taking care of their property? |
| |
Find
out about crime in the area. The local police department keeps
these statistics. |
| |
Visit
the neighborhood at different times of the day. Is it noisy?
Is there a lot of traffic? |
|
Learn
the proximity of shopping, malls, entertainment, and recreation.
